b salty, b sweet

There are a couple design elements that caught my eye at BB's Kitchen located in Aspen, Colorado, designed by Rowland+Broughton Architecture & Urban Design.  The red-hot accents hit me at first, creating such a striking contrast against the warm neutral wood tones.  The playful artwork takes center stage as well.  In the bar area, text art spells out the words "Purely Delicious" and a "B Salty, B Tasty, B Hungry" saying holds your interest in the dining area (playing off the "B" in BB's kitchen - genius!!).  The simple clean lines and sharp right angles of the space are yet another eye-catcher, yet are toned down due to the warm atmosphere.  And my favorite?  The bathroom!  The pin-up girl wallpaper sets a black and white backdrop, but is interrupted by the pop of the cherry red countertop.

dreamy duvets

Gorgeous duvet sets from Blissliving Home!  I'm not sure which one is my favorite.  The bold colors are fun and vibrant, yet the muted colors are so soft and comforting...

wall candy

I've been a fan of Stacy Garcia's for a while now but have been a little out of touch with her work.  In flipping through an issue of Hospitality Design, I was once again reminded of why I'm so drawn to her beautiful wallcovering.  As you can see she's known for her unique patterns and bold color combinations.

dark & handsome

Rich and luxurious.  Industrial and rustic.  These are the words I would use to describe this amazing kitchen.  Oh, and maybe throw the word yummy in there.  How can anyone not picture themselves working, prepping, cooking in this kitchen???  The combination of the rich walnut cabinets, warm creamy marble and soft elm flooring is so inviting.  My favorite detail is the hand-troweled plaster backsplash, made to resemble an old concrete wall.  Along with the backsplash, the pendant lighting, barstools and dining chairs add the perfect contrast of industrial.  And the view?  Dreamy.

forward to fall

I'm ready for fall.  I think.  Not that I have a choice, because it's surely on its way due to the cooler weather.  I just don't like what comes after fall (you know, that nasty "s" word...).  I love the beautiful colors of the leaves, the cooler crisper air, pumpkins, carmel apples, hayrides, cider, bonfires, big comfy sweaters.......and I love these crafty images that make me super excited for fall!
